Renaming one or two files is an effortless process, one that you can do on your own. But when you have to rename tens or hundreds of files, you’ll need help from a specialized tool. ExtraBit Software’s RenameMan is such a specialized tool. It will take any files you want and quickly rename them based on your specifications. Go get RenameMan if you need a simple yet efficient means of batch renaming files or folders.

The RenameMan installer is 2.1MB in size, which is not much; the download will take little time to complete, even on a lousy internet connection. The same can be said about completing the installation process. Just run the aforementioned installer, follow the setup wizard’s instructions, and you’ll be done before you know it.

The panel from the left side of the application's interface allows you to explore your drives and select the files you want to download. Select a folder and the files from that folder will be listed in the panel to the right – the bottom one, not the upper one which allows you to put a renaming rule in place. So to recap, a panel to the left to find and select the files you want to rename, a panel in the upper right hand side for setting up the paramaters RenameMan will use, and a panel in the bottom right hand side that displays the files you select and shows a preview of their new name.

Using RenameMan to batch rename multiple files is a simple 3-step process:
Step 1 – select the files you want to rename.
Step 2 – choose how you want to rename them (convert lower to uppercase, capitalize name, add file size to the name, replace underscores with spaces, and more).
Step 3- preview the new file names and if you’re happy with the result, click the Rename Files button.

Here’s a bit of functionality that certainly deserves mentioning: RenameMan integrates with Windows Explorer, with the right click context menu.

With RenameMan you will have no problems quickly renaming tens or hundreds of files.

Pros

Installing RenameMan will take little of your time. You will quickly figure out the interface. RenameMan integrates with the right click context menu. You can use RenameMan to rename files and folders. There are several renaming rules that you can use.

Cons

30-day trial.
